...HERE'S TO A STYLISH HARMATTAN

The world, this time of the year, experiences a change in the weather.
To Nigerians: say goodbye to heavy downpour because the driest and harshest climate change has come. I’m talking about the Harmattan weather.
Wikipedia calls it a cold-dry and dusty trade wind, blowing over the West African subcontinent.
When the harmattan sets in, worry follows, because the weather affects every part of our body.
Our hair becomes more painful to tend, our faces become stiffer, our lips extremely chapped and even our skin-scaly and white.
In this period, I don’t think we can boast of BeyoncĂ©’s Flawless mantra,“…I woke up like this…”.
That still doesn’t mean the chilly, dry weather should keep us from being our stylish selves, so to beat this enemy of style, here are tips on how we can stay Harmattan fabulous, beautiful and stylish.

HAIR! HAIR!! HAIR!!!

A bad hair day is guaranteed every harmattan morning, and this is not a curse.

Whether you have weaves on or not, you are going to need something to tender-moisturize that dry hair.
For a natural-hair bearer like myself, I resort to something I call hair superpowers. They are extra virgin olive-oil, coconut oil, shea butter (ori) and honey.
Note that these aren’t restricted to virgin or natural hair alone.
So ensure that these ingredients are present in any of your hair products.
TURBANS

Another hair saver I so much love is the turban style. A bad hair day could be saved with just a turban.
That’s how awesome it is.
And best of all, a turban will go with literally anything you wear. It is a proven fact.
Just follow the right laws of colour and texture with the scarves and BAM! You’re good to go.

And so when stepping out, because I’m usually at a loss at predicting how chilly the day could get, I step out with either a scarf or a cardigan. You should too.

LOVE THY FEET!

This harmattan, does it ever feel like parts of our body, especially our feet have become dust-magnets?
It’s usually an unpleasant sight.
Because of this, I’d advise shoes that would hide the heels or soles of your feet.

ANY LAST WORDS…

The best accessory for harmattan, I believe, is the lip-balm as the biggest problem is chapped lips. Never leave this out of the make-up bag, or any bag at all.

Have an amazing read and beat the harmattan before the harmattan beats you.
